First Aid Training Courses Available

New Zealand First Aid Certificate 

Delivery: Public and on-site course 

This full certification course covers NZQA unit standards 6400, 6401 and 6402, making it our most comprehensive workplace first aid qualification. What sets it apart from our other first aid courses is the inclusion of unit standard 6400, Manage First Aid in an Emergency Situation, which trains first aiders to take charge of more serious incidents and treat conditions such as head injuries, major wounds and burns. 

Foundation First Aid / First Aid Revalidation 

Delivery: Public and on-site course 

These courses cover the same content (US 6402 – US6401) and are delivered with a mix of practical scenarios. The main difference comes down to who the course is for and when your staff last trained. 

Foundation First Aid is for people who are new to First Aid, work in a low-risk environment or who’s previous First Aid Certificate has expired. 

Revalidation First Aid is for people who have completed First Aid training within the last 2 years and want to refresh their knowledge. 

Workplace LifeSaver Course

Delivery: On-site course 

Designed for office and low-risk environments, this course focuses on CPR, AED use, choking response and managing a collapsed person. It provides a strong foundation in emergency response without full NZQA certification requirements. 

Heart Start Training

Delivery: On-site course 

Heart Start training focuses on AED awareness and early cardiac response. Participants learn how to recognise cardiac arrest, begin CPR promptly and use a defibrillator with confidence on-site only. 

Caring for Kids First Aid

Delivery: Public and on-site course 

This course focuses on managing child injuries and common illnesses. It is particularly relevant for schools, early childcare centres, and caregivers.

Our training rooms are set up for practical, scenario-based learning, allowing participants to practice CPR, AED use, and emergency response techniques in a supportive environment. Parking & Getting to the Training Venue

Our Rockridge Avenue venue has street parking only. Please arrive a few minutes early to secure a park. The venue is accessible by car and public transport. Participants are encouraged to allow a few extra minutes for parking and arrival. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please contact our team in advance so we can assist.

Meet the LifeCare Training Team

Manuela Jaramillo

Assistant Regional Manager (First Aid Trainer / Occupational Health Technician)

Manuela Jaramillo brings a strong background in health, rehabilitation, and coaching into her role at LifeCare. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy, has completed postgraduate studies in Sports Rehabilitation, and is currently further expanding her knowledge by completing a Health Science degree, majoring in Integrated Human Health. She has been part of the LifeCare team for two years.

Based across South Auckland and Hamilton, Manuela supports clients throughout these regions, delivering first aid training and occupational health services to a wide range of workplaces and communities.

Alongside 18 months of first aid training experience, Manuela also spent seven years coaching swimming and water polo, developing a strong passion for teaching, communication, and helping people build confidence. She believes that knowledge is empowering and that kindness is one of the most effective teaching tools. Her training style is practical, evidence-based, and easy to apply in real-life situations, creating a supportive environment where learners feel confident and equipped to respond when it matters most.

James Earls

Health Consultant / Trainer

James Earls brings over 15 years of experience in health, wellbeing, coaching, and training, with a diverse background spanning fitness, workplace wellbeing and mental health education. He has been part of the LifeCare team since February 2024, where he delivers first aid, fire safety, mental health, and health and safety training.

Based in Auckland, James supports clients across the region and Northland and works with a wide range of industries, helping individuals and teams build confidence and practical skills that can make a real difference in the workplace.

Throughout his career, James has worked across health and wellbeing roles including personal training, workplace health management, drug and alcohol testing, and mental health initiatives within the construction and holistic health sectors. His engaging and people-focused approach creates an environment where learners feel comfortable, supported, and empowered to participate. James is passionate about making learning practical, relatable, and easy to apply in real-life situations.

Trish Martin

Occupational Health Nurse / First Aid Trainer

Trish Martin brings over 35 years of nursing and health experience into her role, with a diverse background spanning occupational health, maternal health, wellbeing coaching, education, and preventative health. She joined LifeCare in January 2024, where she delivers occupational health services and first aid training.

Based in Auckland, Trish supports clients across the region, helping individuals and workplaces build healthier habits and greater confidence in managing wellbeing and emergency situations.

Throughout her career, Trish has worked across a wide range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, maternal mental health, paediatrics, newborn health, and community nursing. Alongside her clinical work, she has spent many years educating and supporting families through parenting and wellbeing programmes. Her warm, supportive, and people-focused style creates an environment where learners feel comfortable, empowered, and encouraged to actively participate. Trish is passionate about preventative health and helping people gain practical skills that can make a positive difference in everyday life.

Khin Lai

Occupational Health Technician

 Khin Lai brings over six years of experience in the health industry into her role, with a strong passion for health, wellbeing, and helping people improve their quality of life. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science and has been part of the LifeCare team for 1 year and 9 months.

Based in West Auckland, Khin supports clients across the surrounding areas, delivering occupational health services and helping individuals and workplaces build healthier habits and safer environments.

With a background centered around health and wellbeing, Khin believes that maintaining physical wellbeing plays an important role in improving focus, energy, and overall day-to-day performance. Her approach is supportive, practical, and people-focused, creating a positive learning environment where participants feel comfortable, engaged, and confident applying what they learn in real-life situations.

Chloe Wilcox

Registered Nurse

Chloe is a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with four years of clinical experience, bringing a strong focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. She began her nursing career in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Starship Child Health, where she developed valuable experience in complex and acute care settings.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Auckland, along with a Certificate in Advanced Nursing Practice from Auckland University of Technology.

Chloe joined LifeCare last year and is passionate about preventative health and supporting individuals on their wellbeing journey. She is committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment where people feel empowered to take an active role in their health. Recently becoming a certified vaccinator, Chloe has further expanded her ability to support the wellbeing of the communities she works with. Based in Auckland, she supports clients across the region, including Manukau and Albany.
