Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a first aid course take?
Most courses range from two hours to one full day, depending on the certification level and unit standards covered.
Do I receive a certificate?
Yes. All learners receive a certificate of completion for every course. However, only learners who opted for NZQA unit standards within eligible courses will have these awarded and displayed on their certificate.
Can businesses book private first aid training?
Yes. We deliver on-site workplace training across Napier and Hawke’s Bay for teams of all sizes. The minimum for an on-site course is 10 learners. If it’s less than 10, we recommend booking a public course.
What happens if my first aid certificate expires?
Most providers offer a three-month grace period from the date of expiry date, allowing learners to complete a Revalidation course in line with NZQA guidelines. If more than three months have passed, learners will generally need to complete the full initial course again.
How long is my first aid certificate valid for and when should I renew it?
First aid certificates are valid and renewed every two years, although some workplaces opt for more frequent revalidations due to their high-risk environments.
Will there be breaks and food provided during the first aid course?
There will be three breaks during full-day training: morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. Morning tea includes fruit and biscuits; however, lunch is not provided. We recommend learners either bring their own lunch or research nearby food options in advance so they can easily purchase something during the break.
At our Napier venue, there is a kitchen with access to a microwave for learners to use. There are also cafés and supermarkets nearby, making it easy to purchase food during the break.
How often are public courses run in Napier?
Public courses run once a week at our Munroe Street venue. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred date.
